Turbine Inlet Spherical Valve is a highly intelligent flow control system that integrates mechanical, hydraulic, and electric facilities. Designed specifically for installation at the inlet of turbines in hydropower plants, it is particularly suited for high water head and pump applications. The valve’s primary function is to protect the turbine unit’s operation, ensuring safety by cutting off the upstream water source during maintenance and overhaul. In emergency situations, such as when the turbine unit operates at runaway speeds and the guide vane cannot close, the inlet spherical valve can be closed to prevent severe accidents by cutting off water from the spiral case.
This valve consists of a hydraulic spherical valve (including hydraulic and electric control systems), upstream and downstream connection pipes, a main dismantling joint, a bypass pipeline system, an air exhaust valve system, and a drainage system. The hydraulic spherical valve is composed of the valve body, rotor, trunnion & bearing, sealing device, and operation mechanism. Various classifications are available based on working conditions, field operations, and valve body structures, ensuring adaptability to different applications.
The bearing is lead-free and self-lubricating, providing excellent load capacity and wear resistance. Additionally, the packing at the end of the trunnion features a box-type self-tightening double sealing structure, ensuring an outstanding sealing effect. The operation system offers multiple options, allowing the valve to open and close via hydraulic, counterweight, or water pressure methods.
