In 2004, the company took on the monumental task of constructing the modern sugar plant of Skelton in Guyana, a project valued at over US$100 million. This facility stands as the largest sugar refinery in Guyana and the Caribbean, utilizing advanced exudation methods and state-of-the-art equipment from various countries. Further solidifying its presence in the light industry, CMC embarked on the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant project in Vietnam in 2008. This joint venture boasts an impressive yearly production of 750,000 tons of urea, with a total contract amount of around US$574 million.
