Description

The 500kV/220kV increase Wando II project represents a significant advancement in power transmission technology, successfully put into operation in 2004. This innovative project is notable for being the first of its kind to utilize a four-circuit transmission line on a single tower. The design optimizes various engineering aspects, including mine design, insulation coordination, and tower structure, ensuring efficient and reliable operation. Recognized for its technological excellence, the project received the first prize in the Science and Technology Award 2006 from the China Southern Power Grid Company, along with a second prize from the China Electric Power Science and Technology Award. The system continues to operate in good condition, demonstrating its effectiveness and paving the way for further applications in the field.
