Description

The cutout fuse is an essential outdoor high voltage protective device designed for the distribution transformer and distribution lines. This innovative fuse cutout effectively safeguards against short circuits and overloads, while also facilitating the on/off switching of loading currents. Constructed with durable materials, it consists of an insulator support and a fuse tube, with fixed static contacts on either side of the insulator and moving contacts at both ends of the fuse tube.

The fuse tube is crafted from an inner arc extinguishing tube, encased in either a phenolic compound paper tube or an epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is equipped with reinforced plastic auxiliary contacts and an arc extinguishing enclosure to enhance safety during the switching process. When in operation, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. In the event of a fault, the fault current melts the fuse quickly, causing the arc-extinguishing tube to heat and generate gas, resulting in high pressure that forces the fuse tube to drop out, opening the circuit.

To safely switch off during load conditions, operators can use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact, initiating contact between the main and auxiliary static contacts. As the auxiliary contacts separate, an electric arc forms, which is contained within the arc-extinguishing enclosure, where the explosive gas effectively extinguishes the arc at the current zero crossing.
