Description

Jinniuping Hydropower Station is a pivotal project in the comprehensive utilization planning of the Gui Jiang River, marking the fourth step in a six-step initiative. This hydropower station is strategically situated about 7 km upstream of Xiong Bucun, in the middle and lower reaches of Gui Jiang County. The project, financed by a county-wide power limited company with an investment of 540 million yuan, boasts a total installed capacity of 360 MW, featuring 20 MW tubular turbine units that generate an impressive 2.7 kWh. Designed for longevity, the station anticipates an average annual electricity generation of 241.6 million kWh.

The facility features a flap gate sluice system, a first of its kind in the Gui Jiang series, enhancing its operational capabilities. Construction commenced in October 2004, with successful river closure achieved by September 28, 2006. Following testing and formal installation of generating units in January 2007, the hydropower station began generating power in stages throughout the latter half of 2007.

Upon completion, the Jinniuping Hydropower Station significantly alleviated pressure on the Guangxi power grid, fostering economic development in the prefectural region. It has laid a strong foundation for enhancing energy supply conditions between Wuzhou and Hezhou cities, while also contributing to fixed asset investments and the growth of tourism, traffic, and transportation sectors in the county.
